Are you a high school senior competing in a JBJ Event?

You’re eligible to apply for a $1,111 scholarship that celebrates hard work, leadership, and love for the game. Submit your answers by 10:00 PM the Wednesday before your event to jbjfoundation@jbj-events.com for a chance to win.

Winners will be announced Saturday morning.

Requirements

High School Senior graduating 2026.

Submit your answers as a Word document or PDF. 

Include your full name, email address, club and team name, event you are competing at and phone number at the top of your submission. 

Submission must be received no later then 10pm Wednesday.

  1. Athletic and Team Impact: Describe a specific moment in a competitive match where you had to overcome adversity (e.g., a mental block, a physical challenge, or a deficit). What role did you play in turning the situation around, and what did that experience teach you about team cohesion? 
  2. Leadership and Mentorship: How do you define leadership both on and off the court? Provide an example of a time you successfully mentored a teammate or positively influenced the team’s dynamic. 
  3. Academic-Athletic Balance: The life of a student-athlete demands exceptional time management. Outline your personal strategy for prioritizing your academic success while maintaining a high level of commitment to volleyball.
  4. Contribution Beyond the Court: What is one area of personal growth or development (unrelated to volleyball) that you are actively pursuing, and how do you plan to use this skill or knowledge to contribute to the university community?
  5. Future Goals and Vision: Where do you see yourself five years after graduation, and how will the experience of being a competitive volleyball player prepare you for that future?
  6. Defining Motivation: Beyond the thrill of competition, what is the core personal value that motivates you to continue challenging yourself as a volleyball player, and how do you embody that value every day
  7.  “Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite number?”: What is the significance of your current (or favorite) jersey number or lucky number? Share the story behind it—whether it represents a family member, a key moment in your athletic journey, or a personal philosophy. How does this number inspire you or remind you of your core values on and off the court?
